FESTIVAL REGISTRATION- SUNDAY JULY 28TH, from 10-3pm

If your arrival time to the Lincoln Center campus is earlier than that, we encourage you to have breakfast in the Juilliard cafeteria, which opens at 8am.  If your arrival time is LATER than registration, contact us to make arrangements..



PARTICIPANT ACCOMODATIONS


Housing will be held at the Juilliard School’s Meredith Willson Residence Hall on the Lincoln Center campus and at International House, the housing facility for Manhattan School of Music.  Students will receive a residence life handbook in their packets upon check-in.


Travel Day & Check-in: Sunday, July 28th.   


Travel Day & Check-out is Thursday, August 8th, and students must check out by 12 noon.



Meredith Willson Residence Hall is on the same campus, right beside the Juilliard School. 

The entrance to the residence hall is located at 65th street between Amsterdam Ave. and Broadway. 


International House is the alternate housing location.  Located at 500 Riverside Drive, International House is one of the dormitories for the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) and Columbia University.  It is directly behind MSM, and is a 15 minute subway ride to Lincoln Center. Please note: International House does not have air conditioning.


WHAT TO BRING

Linens (pillow, pillowcases, sheet set and blanket) will be provided by the Juilliard residence hall and at International House.


For your comfort and convenience, please bring:


  1. -Clothes for HOT NYC weather!


- Washcloths, soap and basic toiletries (toothbrush, toothpase, hair products, etc).


  1. -Spending change (For Subway fare, taxis, shopping, social activities & food-remember: this is also about the NYC experience!)


  1. -Cell phone and charger (for directions and emergencies)


  1. -small portable fan- NYC gets pretty hot in August! (highly recommended but not necessary)


  1. -ethernet cable! wi-fi is not available in the dorm rooms, but there are ethernet jacks. 


  1. -a small portable lamp (the rooms have somewhat limited lighting. (note: the festival will note purchase lamps or fans).


  1. -Bring your own towels.


Also keep in mind that there are several pharmacies within walking distance of the Lincoln Center campus in case if you forget any toiletries.


Internet: Wi-fi is available in the Juilliard School building and common areas at no cost to you, and students also have access to the computer lab located on the 19th floor of the residence hall. We do encourage, however, for students to bring their own ETHERNET CABLES, as there is no wi-fi in the dormitory suites. 


Security: Julliard, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the institute are not/will not be responsible for lost or stolen items, nor is there a safe in the rooms for your personal belongings.  The dormitory offers 24 hour security, with an RA on duty 24 hours a day.  The institute also has a RA residing in the dormitory who is available for any questions or emergencies.

METROCARDS: The NYC Transit System uses metrocards as the form of admission onto the subway and buses.  The cards range from a single room ($2.50) to a 7 day unlimited ride ($29) can be bought at any subway station via cash or credit card.

TRAVEL & PLANNING

PARTICIPANT CHECKLIST

PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO BRING:
A wire folding music stand (for rehearsals in residence hall and other spaces)

Solo repertoire for solo masterclasses (full works, orchestral excerpts, etude books, or whatever solo materials you’re currently working on)

Dress for concerts:
(Participant performers only) 
Each group must discuss and choose from the following options: 

Option1:  Ladies: All white- very dressy
                Men: Nice button down with tie
OR

Option 2: A designated color scheme            
              agreed upon by your ensemble.               
              Must be uniform, and very dressy.  

Overall: Evening gowns and cocktail dresses are idea for evening and culmination concerts. 
Please NO casual attire!

Dress for Outreach: 
(For Family Concert on 8/7 and Sloan-Kettering Concert on 8/3.)
Dressy casual is acceptable.
